Business Is a Contact Sport – And So Is the Kingdom

By Marissa Kay Gonzalez | Valor & Virtue

Let’s be clear about something: business is a contact sport. You don’t win from the sidelines. You don’t build a legacy hiding behind a screen, hoping someone finds you. No—business is built through sweat, connection, and courage. It’s about showing up, following up, and leveling up.

But let me take it a step deeper.

Just like business is a contact sport—so is spiritual warfare. And in both arenas, who you surround yourself with matters. Big time.

You can have the best branding, the prettiest Canva templates, and all the CRM automations in the world… but if your circle lacks integrity, discernment, or faith—you're walking into battle without armor.

Relationships Are the Real Capital

People think money is the main currency of business. It’s not. Relationships are. Relationships open doors, create referrals, build partnerships, and keep you grounded when the storm hits (and trust me, it will hit).

But relationships don’t happen by accident. They are built on contacts. Not just names in a phone. I mean real connection. Intentional follow-up. Prayers whispered on behalf of your people. Service before selling.

In this era of likes and DMs, the enemy would love for you to forget the power of one real conversation, one God-ordained connection. He wants you isolated, insecure, and too busy comparing to engage.

But we’re not here for shallow. We’re here for substance.

Choose Your Circle Like Your Calling Depends on It—Because It Does

Influence is contagious. So ask yourself: Who’s speaking into your decisions? Who’s stretching your vision or stifling your potential? Are they sharpening your faith—or slowly dulling it?

You can’t walk in Kingdom authority with cultural compromises in your ear.
Business requires vision. Kingdom business requires discernment.

So I ask again—who's in your circle? Because that will determine if you're stepping into the next season fully armored or fully exposed.

Ephesians 6:10–20 — The Real Business Suit

The Bible doesn’t say "if" spiritual warfare happens—it says when. And that includes warfare in your business. Rejection, betrayal, lack, fear, burnout… that’s not just “life.” That’s war.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God…” (Ephesians 6:10)

Here’s the blueprint:

  • Belt of Truth — Stay honest in your deals.

  • Breastplate of Righteousness — Let your integrity be your insurance.

  • Gospel of Peace — Be a peacemaker in chaotic markets.

  • Shield of Faith — Even when the numbers don’t make sense, believe anyway.

  • Helmet of Salvation — Guard your mindset, because that’s where the enemy starts.

  • Sword of the Spirit — Speak the Word over your business daily.

And don’t forget verse 18:

“Pray in the Spirit on all occasions… be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”

If you’re not praying over your business, your clients, your contracts—you’re leaving your field unguarded. Don’t just post about God—partner with Him.

Let Me Leave You With This:

Business isn't just about profit margins. It’s about purpose. And purpose requires protection. You don’t get to casually show up to a God-sized assignment. You suit up. You show up. You stay surrounded by the right people. And you make contact.

With prospects. With power players. With prayer warriors.
Because your contacts determine your contracts.
Your connections determine your direction.
And your circle… shapes your calling.

This isn’t just business. This is warfare. Suit up.

Faith leads. Wisdom builds. Legacies last.
