God Met Me in the Middle of Cleaning My House
Let me be real for a second—my kitchen was a disaster. Dishes piled like a Leaning Tower of Porcelain, food crusted on the counters, and laundry singing backup vocals in the background. My hair was a mess, my soul was tired, and I was somewhere between burnout and breakdown.
And right there, in the middle of my mess—God showed up.
Not in some thunderclap moment. But in the stillness that came when I finally paused, hands deep in dishwater, and whispered, “God, I can’t do it all.”
And He responded—not audibly, but in the soft way that makes your shoulders drop and your spirit exhale.
“I never asked you to.”
That was it. Simple. Profound. Game-changing. We think God only meets us on mountaintops, but sometimes He shows up in front of a crusty plate and a crying toddler. He’s not waiting for the house to be clean or the mood to be perfect. He meets us mid-scrub, mid-chaos, mid-life.
Because grace isn’t only found in devotionals and sermons. Sometimes it’s in the suds, the surrender, and the sacred ordinary.
Reflection:
What “messy” moment could you invite God into today?
Scripture:
“Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for meeting me in the middle of my everyday. Even in the mess, the noise, the weariness—you are present. Help me to find You in the mundane and to rest in Your presence even when the house isn’t quiet and the to-do list is screaming. Amen.
